Welcome to Pursuit of the Unspoken

At Pursuit of the Unspoken, we explore the complex, often unspoken layers of psychology that influence how we think, feel, and connect. Our mission is to bring attention to the emotional truths and hidden experiences that are too often left out of traditional conversations. Through thought-provoking content, personal storytelling, and a growing focus on community outreach, we aim to turn curiosity into connection and insight into action. Join us as we uncover what lies beneath the surface and build a more open, empathetic understanding of the human mind.

Distorted Perceptions and Cycles of Violence: The Role of Media and Childhood Trauma in Shaping Criminal Behavior and Mental Health Stigma

AbstractThese findings examine the negative influence of media, particularly social media, on public perceptions of criminal behavior and mental illness, alongside the role of childhood trauma in increasing the likelihood of criminal behavior in adulthood. Media platforms often stigmatize mental illness while simultaneously romanticizing or trivializing it, contributing to misinformation and unhealthy societal attitudes. Self-diagnosis trends and exposure to violent or harmful content exacerbate mental health struggles, potentially desensitizing individuals to violence and fostering aggressive behaviors. About us

Pursuit of the Unspoken was founded in 2024 by Nialynn Cueto, sparked by a vision she developed in her sophomore year of high school. With the support of her school’s Psychology Club staff, that vision came to life to bring the less explored and often overlooked areas of psychology into the spotlight. We believe that beneath the surface of conventional conversations lies a wealth of untapped knowledge: insights into emotional development, identity, mental health stigma, and the invisible experiences that shape how we think, feel, and connect.

Our blog features in-depth articles, personal stories, and thoughtful analysis from our team that aim to uncover the mysteries of the mind. But Pursuit of the Unspoken is more than a blog. It is a platform for change. We see the impact of opening up space for honest, human conversations about mental health.

Now, it's time to build on this momentum. We aim to expand into community outreach inspired by the passions and findings uncovered through our writing and events. Whether through workshops, partnerships, or interactive discussions, our mission is to bring psychology out of textbooks and into real life. We strive to create space where curiosity meets empathy and where dialogue becomes healing.

Whether you're a student, a professional, or someone simply fascinated by the human psyche, we invite you to be part of this journey with us.
